Monk, the quirky television program on USA Network about the obsessive compulsive detective, starring Tony Shalhoub, resumes its seventh season with all new episodes on January 9, 2009. Monk, set in San Francisco, revolves around the comically maddening detective as he solves the toughest crimes. The regular cast of addictive detective comedy is Tony Shalhoub, Ted Levine, Jason Gray-Stanford, Hector Elizondo and Emmy Clarke.

The critically acclaimed original series stars Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG award winner Tony Shalhoub, Monk remains one of the highest-rated original scripted series in basic cable history.

Shalhoub has earned three Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and two SAG Awards for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of Adrian Monk, a brilliant detective who suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder. Monk's psychological disorder costs him his position as a legendary homicide detective on the San Francisco Police force. Due to the tragic unsolved murder of his wife, Monk has developed an abnormal fear of germs, heights, crowds and virtually everything else, which provides an unusual challenge to solving crimes … not to mention his day-to-day existence.

Mr. Monk Meets His Half Brother

  • As season seven continues, Monk's delinquent half-brother, Jack Jr. (Steve Zahn) is introduced. Zack escapes from prison and surprises Monk by breaking into his Monk's apartment. Zack manipulates Monk into helping him find the person he claims framed him for murder;
  • Monk has scored tickets to the biggest football game of the year, but he and Captain Stottlemeyer can't go inside until they figure out who tried to blow up a fan in the parking lot.
  • Natalie unwittingly helps a thief steal the bicycle of a biotech CEO ( Bradley Whitford), she ropes Monk into solving a crime straight out of "Encyclopedia Brown. Monk learns the hard way how dangerous this thief really is.
  • When the parking garage where Monk's wife was killed is set for demolition, Monk intervenes to save the site. Soon he finds himself investigating the disappearance of a city official.
  • Monk befriends a warm older woman (Gena Rowlands), but he has trouble believing the friendship comes without a catch.
  • Monk matches wits with a magician (Steve Valentine) who has the ability to make evidence disappear
  • A childhood bully (Noah Emmerich) who terrorized Monk hires the detective to trail his wife, whom he suspects of infidelity, Monk relishes the opportunity to prove him right -- and things get even sweeter when the bully is accused of murder.
