The Office Season 6 Premiere - GossipThe Employees of Dunder Mifflin Return for Another Season
Upon learning that he is not part of office gossip, boss Michael Scott spreads his own rumors. The office learns of Pam's pregnancy and Andy questions his own sexuality.
The sixth season of NBC’s hit comedy The Office premiered on September 17, 2009. This season picks a few months after the last season ended. Viewers learned at the end of last season that Pam and Jim are expecting a baby. Hardcore StuntsAs Season 6 begins, viewers are treated to a crazy display by Michael Scott (the boss), Dwight, and Andy. The three Dunder Mifflin employees attempt to record the next big “Hardcore” online sensation. The premise is to get from Point A to Point B as creatively as possible. The three men are all so awkward that the stunts are more laughable than death defying or cool. Office GossipThe entire office is in the break room eating lunch and gossiping. Michael enters as the employees are discussing an attraction between two of the summer interns. Michael wonders aloud why he didn’t know of this gossip, and he feels left out. He discusses with the camera how he hates to feel left out, and he decides to do something about it. After learning some information from one of the interns, Michael begins spreading the rumor that Stanley is having an affair. Sensible Jim tells him to stop it because it could ruin Stanley’s life. When Michael attempts to learn the truth from Stanley, he finds that in fact Stanley is having an affair. Stanley asks Michael to not tell anyone and says he is really counting on Michael to keep this secret. Michael Scott’s PlanSince Michael has already told the entire office, he decides to tell a bunch of other fake rumors in order to take everyone’s attention off the Stanley rumor. He tells Meredith that Pam is pregnant, which is actually true, however Pam has not told anyone yet. He also tells Kelly that Andy is gay. In the break room, Andy is confronted by Kevin in regards to his homosexuality. Andy, the consummate dufus that he is, begins to question if he is actually gay. Apparently this rumor has been started before, in Andy’s high school and college. He even talks to Oscar (the openly gay Dunder Mifflin employee) to find out if Oscar thinks he is gay. Jim and Pam and the Baby NewsIn the final scene, the cast is meeting for a small party to celebrate the interns’ final day with the company. In this scene everyone is asking someone else about the fake rumor that was spread about them. Jim, as usual, figures out that there have been a lot of fake rumors going around and they are able to trace them all back to Michael. Michael admits that he wanted to take the attention away from the one true rumor, and to Stanley’s horror, he is about to tell everyone about the affair. Instead, Jim chimes in that Pam is actually pregnant, and that rumor is true. The Dunder Mifflin gang all congratulates Jim and Pam and ask a bunch of ridiculous questions, which is why the couple was hesitant to tell their co-workers about the pregnancy.
