The Office: Niagara Review

Jim and Pam Finally Get Married, but With an Unexpected Twist

Oct 9, 2009 Tom Mitsos

The much-anticipated wedding between Jim and Pam is finally here. However, would Michael ruin the special day, or would Jim and Pam have the most perfect wedding?

The big day is finally here, and of course the entire office has been invited to witness the wedding. Niagara starts out with Jim and Pam explaining to the rest of the office that they do and do not want them to do at this wedding. Most importantly, no one is supposed to talk about Pam’s pregnancy.

Jim Spills the Beans on Pam’s Pregnancy

Of course, it would seem like an ideal spot for Michael to completely ruin their wedding. However, Jim is actually the one that slips when he asks everyone to raise their drinks except for Pam “for obvious reasons.” Everybody questions why Jim said “for obvious reasons” and eventually Jim explains that Pam is pregnant.

Before revealing that Pam is pregnant, Jim tries to cover up what he said by saying Pam is an alcoholic. Yet we see another instance of Jim turning into Michael since getting the promotion. Jim even addresses it to Michael when he asks if being a manager makes you say stupid things. Of course Michael says that he has not found that to be true.

So the day before the wedding ceremony has even begun, the weekend is starting off on a bad note. Pam’s grandmother has decided to not stay for the wedding since hearing about her granddaughter’s pregnancy. To make matters worse, Andy tears his scrotum while attempting the splits and Pam is the only who can drive him to the hospital.

The Day of the Wedding

The wedding day has finally come, but Jim and Pam are no where to be found. The camera shows Jim and Pam running away. It appears that Jim and Pam have decided to elope, but they eventually return for the wedding where they find out that everyone in the wedding party starts dancing just like in “that youtube video.”

For people who have not seen the youtube video, this part was very confusing. It seemed out of the blue and completely unnecessary. However, those who have seen the video will no doubt enjoy The Office’s rendition. During the dance scene, the audience is shown where Jim and Pam ran off to. They actually got married on the maid on the mist boat ride.

Despite all of the bad things that were happening, Jim and Pam end up having one of the most romantic weddings imaginable. This episode had a lot of plot to cover, but managed to add a lot of comedy in at just the right times, unlike the last few episodes. Although the wedding only made up the very end of the episode, making this episode an hour was definitely a good choice. While not one of the best episodes, it is no doubt the best one of the sixth season.
