Sherri Shepherd stars as a working mother who discovers her husband has cheated on her. She now must rebuild her life with her young son.
Sherri is loosely based on the life of actress/comedienne/talk show host Sherri Shepherd. Sherri is a co-host of the popular talk show The View, and now stars in this sitcom on Lifetime. In the premier episode, the viewers are introduced to Sherri and her co-workers in a law firm. Sherri is a part-time paralegal who is also following her dream of being a full-time actress/comedienne. A Cheating HusbandSherri recently split from her husband (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) after discovering he cheated. She is now a single working mother taking care of her six-year-old son Bo (Brandon Khalil). As if a cheating husband isn’t enough, Sherri also learns that the woman with whom he cheated is now pregnant. This throws a whole new perspective into the situation. And to make matters worse, this other woman is only twenty years old. Not only does she now feel badly about her soon-to-be ex husband’s affair, but the fact that he cheated on her with a much younger woman adds to her lowering self-esteem. Things are not looking good for her, but Sherri is determined to get her life back on track. With the moral support of her co-workers, she finds the strength to go out for a night with the girls. Starting a New Life as a Single MotherSherri is frustrated with her life. She knows that everything will be different from now on. But how she deals with these events and goes on with her life and career is something that weighs heavily on her mind. And, will she ever find love again? That is a big concern for her. Bo’s pediatrician, Dr. Randolph Gregg (Michael Boatman), is enchanted with Sherri, but he is definitely not a charming, debonair, self-confident man and has trouble vocalizing his feelings. He stumbles over his sentences and cannot get things right. All he wants to do is ask Sherri out for coffee, and he bumbles his way through all his conversations with her. The show has possibilities. As the season progresses, hopefully the viewers will see some of Sherri’s comedy act. She is a funny woman with a great smile, which makes her endearing to her fans. Sherri Shepherd has appeared in several TV series’ through the years, however this is the first one in which she is the main star. It is built around this talented woman. Sherri is not giving up her other job on The View. Sherri premiers in a special “Sneak Peek Week” on Monday, October 5, 2009, at 7 PM ET on Lifetime. It then moves to its regular time slot on Tuesdays at 10 PM on Lifetime.
