In the second episode of season six of The Office, Jim negotiates a promotion. Will he be able to pull it off without Michael getting in the way?

Fresh off the hilarious Season Premiere , NBC’s hit comedy, The Office, is back with another hilarious episode.

Jim Meets with David

This week Jim Halpert (played by Jogn Krasinski) has an important meeting with head boss, David Wallace (played by Andy Buckley), who is in visiting the Scranton branch. Jim is hoping for a promotion and knows he must go through David, as his direct boss, Michael Scott (played by Steve Carell), tends to be inept. Michael thinks of Jim as his best friend, and does not want to lose him to another branch. Therefore, he has never recommended Jim for the promotion he deserves.

Jim takes matters into his own hands and presents a plan to David. Jim suggests that Michael be promoted to the manager of all Northeastern Sales, while Jim manages the day to day of the Scranton branch. David likes the idea and before he leaves Scranton, he decides to run it by Michael.

Michael feels left out of the decision making and doesn’t really like change, so he convinces David Jim’s plan is not a good idea. David tells Jim that the promotion isn’t going to happen and leaves Scranton. Jim questions Michael about what he told David, and eventually gets to the bottom of it. Jim is upset and as usual, Michael tries to make him feel better. In order to make it up to him, Jim asks Michael to call David and recommend him for the promotion.

David is confused because when he was in Scranton, Michael painted a bad picture of Jim. Jim, who is sitting in Michael’s office, overhears all of this and is and is extremely upset with Michael. Despite the idiot that Michael is, he always ends up feeling bad for his mistakes, so he attempts to make nice with Jim, who isn’t interested.

Luckily, David calls back with a decision that will suit everyone. He decides to make Jim and Michael “Co-Managers.” Michael will oversee Sales, and Jim will oversee the day to day operations of the branch. Jim is thrilled with this decision, and Michael is miffed, but realizes this is the only way to keep Jim, so he acts excited for his own “promotion.”

Workers’ Comp. Investigation

Meanwhile, warehouse worker, Daryl (played by Craig Robinson), files a worker’s compensation complaint with HR. Dwight Schrute (played by Rainn Wilson) overhears this complaint, and thinks that Daryl is lying. He thinks that Daryl’s story doesn’t add up, so he convinced HR representative, Toby Flenderson (played by Paul Lieberstein) to investigate. Toby is a push-over, and he enjoys the odd detective story, so he goes along with the plan.

Dwight and Toby stake out Daryl’s house, and when they see who they think is Daryl carrying a large bag of dog food, they act on it. They begin to yell at the person, who puts down the dog food and they see it isn’t Daryl. The pair attempt to speed away, but end up slamming into Daryl’s trashcans.

Back in the Office

Daryl brings his sister by the office in order to identify Dwight and Toby. He is not happy that they could have even thought that his beautiful sister was him. Dwight, who is always hilarious for telling it like it is, is shocked and wonders aloud if he s the only one that sees the resemblance. Toby wants to make nice, so he wants to forget the whole thing happened. Dwight is determined to catch Daryl in a lie, so he will not quit.

Eventually, Dwight decides to file a complaint to Corporate because he believes Daryl lied on an official form. Daryl also decides to file a complaint because Dwight and Toby “sexually harassed” his sister.

Michael decides to announce the new co-manager news to the office. Pam (Jim’s fiancée) is excited, while the rest of the staff doesn’t really understand. The shift in management will undoubtedly create some funny scenes in future episodes. Dwight, who has always considered himself Michael’s right hand man, is the most upset by this news. He tells it all with a simple “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”
